I know he's a conservationist, therefore I know he will advocate for "managing" the "resources" that are sentient nonhumans. And of course that premise is only possible because the animals (and everything else on the planet) are our "resources." That depends largely on us, our priorities, and our allocation of resources.

Most of the people debating this issue are for conservation, they are against wild areas being destroyed and wild species being threatened with extinction. It’s a powerful motivator that has attracted millions of people from all around the world to devote time and money to protect these resources.

Not a cover species The Black Kite is not actually black, but of course, misleading bird names are not exactly rare. It is mostly a question of economics – raising just one is troublesome enough given the resources required to feed and educate the chick. No surprise then that the species is listed as Vulnerable.
