Oblivious to its human surroundings, the egret was carefully picking its way down the grass between the hotels and the sand. Sunday we had to head to Tampa to take a flight home, Brian back to the Richmond area for work and me to Washington. It was amazing watching them swoop so deftly and then barely skim the surface. Great Egret.

Many visitors who come through Orlando or Tampa see maybe eight or ten species on a winter trip. Humans have also participated in this process by introducing a long list of birds such as Egyptian Goose , Purple Swamphen , and Common Myna. Magnolia Warbler is an annual winter resident in small numbers in Miami-Dade, FL. .
