Tribes and Birds of the Lower Omo Valley by Adam Riley

10,000 Birds

These vast and rugged lands of savanna, hills, gorges and rivers still protect some of Ethiopia’s largest extant herds of typical African savanna game, including African Elephant, African Buffalo, Giraffe, Lion, Leopard, African Wild Dog and numerous species of grazers. Game used to teem here until the downfall of the Marxist Derg government in1991, when millions of dollars of Russian-supplied arms were looted from military depots and circulated amongst the tribes people.
