Now that the outdoors is fur friendly, it’s time to get out there and let the fur fly! But with that full time fur coat in mind, the cool autumn air is perfect for pounding the pavement with your pal.

Finally in 1799, the first visitors on this volcanic land were a group of French seal hunters who were after the fur seals that can be found hauled out on the beaches for fur and oil, which almost wiped out the local population of the species. We arose each morning at 4:30am to find out that we were late to the game.

There were no mammals, little game, and not many birds either. Brush-tailed Possums were brought from Australia to help start a fur industry. But man cannot live on bread alone, and the homesick settlers wanted more than just game. Part of the world they wanted to transport was natural.

The fact that cats will do this over and over without ever catching their prey suggests that either their hunting instinct is so strong as to overpower their sense of futility, or they eventually learn that it’s a game and just enjoy the practice. Meticulous self-grooming.
