In a nationwide survey in 2005, the Australian public rated the common myna as the most significant pest, beating contenders such as the cane toad, the European rabbit, and feral cat ( source ). It is probably a rumor that writing a post about Australia and not mentioning kangaroos is illegal, but why take the risk?

In the shade there were several Western Grey Kangaroos that reluctantly moved to another shady spot as we approached and there were Yellow-rumped Thornbills and Splendid Fairywrens. . Western Grey Kangaroo. Feral bees. Water on the far side of Lake Indoon.

In the event I’m in a life or death struggle with an Oregon Junco or a particularly feral Dunnock I’d rather my birding companion was at least nominally on my side. The females quickly pair off again with a new male who usually has a more relaxed attitude to the odd moving kangaroos in his patch.
