No Snow on Long Island

Having gone zero-for-two on our twitches we started to make our way back west, stopping every time we saw large flocks of Canada Geese to see if we could find any rare geese mixed in with them. The owl, much to Redgannet’s dismay, was a no-show.

The Kerkini Lake, Greece: Dipped One, Got One

We are approaching a large mudbar with some more Dalmatian Pelicans… and a flock of geese… dark, round-headed and short-billed, elongated white blaze on their faces – threatened and declining Lesser White-fronted Geese ! Should I add, a lifer, too. Large, unicoloured… Lesser Spotted , perhaps?

En route to our next stop we slowed down next to a park and spotted the now countable Egyptian Geese. And could we just do a quick drive through at a fast food joint? We had to eat some wonderfully prepared Lebanese food including some outstanding hummus. Only one cuckoo? Of course not!
