Is there a different culture regarding animals in Europe? At a conference in Brussels, Belgium on 6 November, European Commission Vice-President Günter Verheugen, and Science and Research Commissioner Janez Potocnik restated the EU's commitment to the reduction of animal testing. I just don't understand it. Is public outcry greater?

No wonder rBGH has been banned in Europe, Canada, Japan, Australia and New Zealand. Europe and Canada outlawed using hormones on dairy cows because of such human and animal health concerns. There is as yet no medical research showing the cost of several extra years of hormones flooding the system.
