Whenever the media report that someone has killed "an endangered animal" or "an endangered species," they too confuse an individual with a species. Any animal threatened with a gun or arrow is endangered. Hunters kill members of endangered species. To be consistent (and nonspeciesist).

It's a TLC show about humans that adopt monkeys and treat them as their children. There are hundreds of videos on the Internet of proud parents enjoying their monkeys, and an estimated 15,000 monkeys live with humans as pets or surrogate children in the United States. Who suffers? This is seriously weird stuff. Remember Travis?

Listen for their distinctive human-like calls and watch for them in morning and late afternoon flight in such sites as the Tarcoles area, around Palo Verde National Park, and around Santa Rosa National Park. If you do find a Blue-vented Hummingbird with a blue crown, you might rediscover a lost, critically endangered species.
