Christian Science Monitor Calls for Endangered Species Hour

Critter News

I like this opinion piece from the Christian Science Monitor which calls for an "Endangered Species Hour." The Christian Science Monitor rightly points out that citizens and consumers need to get involved in endangered species protection, because at the CITES level, it's all about money and international politics. But jobs that depend on harvesting endangered species will quickly disappear if those species are not protected.

Spanish Woman Leave $3M Euros to Save Lynx

Critter News

I know people will whine about why she didn't leave the money to human causes, but I'm proud that she did it. I get so tired of people calling for money to human charities. Humans control the frigging WORLD. That's a problem with humans as a species, not with specific people like this woman. Stop blaming general human selfishness on people like her. Stupid TLC Show Called "My Monkey Baby"

It's a TLC show about humans that adopt monkeys and treat them as their children. There are hundreds of videos on the Internet of proud parents enjoying their monkeys, and an estimated 15,000 monkeys live with humans as pets or surrogate children in the United States. 4 The Love Of Animals

This tale of a single bird, and the compassionate people deployed to save him, shows how the process of saving one life restored a degree of humanity for the rest of us. As a result the Brown Pelican spent 45 years on the endangered species list, while state biologists worked tirelessly to reintroduce the species to its natural habitat. A major victory came in November of 2009 when the Brown Pelican was finally removed from the endangered species list.
