It’s that time of the year again! The Center for Disease Control recommends people begin getting flu vaccinations in October. On the pet side, the H3N8 virus, or canine influenza, has been a growing concern. H3N8 is the virus that causes flu in dogs, and while there are no known cases of a human catching the flu from their pet, it can be passed from dog to dog.

Awful story, but this is the reason I support PETA, even when they do wacky things sometimes. Their investigations produce results. From the PR Newswire. An enormous victory was achieved for animals this week when nearly 200 dogs and 54 cats were rescued from a North Carolina animal testing facility that closed its doors after an undercover investigation revealed apparent abuse of the animals by workers at the facility.

President Clinton has been following an essentially vegan diet since May for its health benefits. [A vegan diet is an entirely plant-based diet centered around whole grains, vegetables, fruit, and beans, and contains absolutely no animal products (i.e., it contains no meat of any sort, no fish, seafood, no dairy products, and no eggs).] The only thing that prevents his diet from being completely vegan is that once in a while, he eats fish, but not often.
