Birders across Australia are excited about reports of a flock of 23 Spotted Whistling Ducks just north of Cairns in a pond in Wonga Beach. The birds have historically been found from the Philippines south through central Indonesia to Papua New Guinea though they recently colonized remote parts of the west coast of Australia’s Cape York peninsula. For them to be found in numbers that far south in an accessible location is really something and a horde of birders is expected to descend upon the location.
Road trip ? LOL
