The giraffes joined the rest of the heard on the Serengeti Plain on July 13th. What is neat about giraffes is that it is common for other members of the herd to become involved with the care of newborns. From the press release: A giraffe’s gestation period is approximately 15 months, and the new babies will nurse for about one year.

The Dublin Dog Foundation (DDF) has partnered with Freedom Service Dogs, Inc. (FSD) for their second annual philanthropic campaign. The DDF will be raising $20,000 for the training and care of a service dog (including medical bills, training and food) which will be donated to one lucky war vet from the FSD group. DDF will raise the money for the service dog by raffling off a used Jeep that features a custom paint job and custom parts.
