'There were three profound questions my birding group discussed while we birded Trinidad and Tobago, back in December 2012: (1) How many Bananaquits could fit on a banana? (2) Which hummingbird was more beautiful—Tufted Coquette or Ruby-topaz Hummingbird? (3) What was the best guide to the birds of Trinidad and Tobago? The first two questions were never definitely answered.

'Dogs with Old Man Faces: Portraits of Crotchety Canines is a delightful little book full of photos of dogs with, you guessed it, old man faces. Each old dog also has funny captions on the page next to them, such as; “Pedro likes Old Spice and Sinatra,” “Jack enjoys a hot cup of Sanka,” and “Chet is still upset they cancelled Matlock.” We loved this fun tribute to senior dogs, who still have what it takes to make us smile!

We recently had a long weekend here in New Zealand and I took the opportunity to, while visiting the lovely wine country of Marlborough, to drop by for a lunchtime visit out to the marine canyon to see what could be seen. Lots of Cape Pigeons could be seen.
