On June 23, Melody Martinez presented the session “Culturally Responsive End-of-Life Care” at AVMA Convention 2024, held June 21-25 in Austin, Texas. Martinez discussed the importance of recognizing and understanding the cultural differences of clients and communities.

While visiting the city of Corpus Christi in Texas in November 2023, we were told about a rare bird in the heart of the downtown. We went to the area where it had been reported. We were standing in front of a restaurant. On the other corners were a parking lot, an office building, and a barren, cement-covered lot. Other birders joined us at the stakeout, as we wandered around the area.

I did not get a photo of them, they are newborns I hope people in Serbia start caring about animals one day. here is a true story to get you a picture: There was this person I think an uncle of my father who grabbed them by the tail and hit there heads with a hammer and threw them in a river. One day when he was grabbing plums from a tree and fell and he had blood coming out of his mouth and was suffering.

Is anyone else heartbroken by the rate at which we’re losing endangered species? It’s like every other day, there’s another animal that’s on the brink of extinction. It’s so sad to think about future generations not knowing these amazing creatures.
