While the P-a-P Wildfowl Trust’s main thrust is the breeding and release of five duck species, the habitat encourages a number of native wetland birds to inhabit and proliferate the area. Due to the plethora of bird species around, invariably we were to experience something breathtaking.

Duck Migration

Then, at 6 PM, as the sun disappeared completely over the horizon, the ducks on the pond started massing on the west end of the pond, with many small flocks from all over the pond flying in to the west end until it was basically covered with ducks. I hope you enjoy what I did manage to get… Am I ever glad that I am a birder!

Did the Black-bellied Whistling Duck represent his family, “showing face” as we say here in the Caribbean? Apologies for excluding them from this carousel. Spotted Sandpiper.

Swarovski Skills Camp, or men and their toys

I am still tired from the long drive, but it was great to play with the very best toys for birders, to be able to share experiences and to ask the factory staff all sorts of silly questions. Yesterday evening I got home from the second Swarovski Skills Camp at Lake Neusiedl in the east of Austria. impressive for Central Europe.

Best Bird of the Weekend (First of July 2018)
