I don’t believe, but this is subject to correction, that the wild and domestic Turkey were ever called by different binomials. And since that performance is not enough, they take to the skies and kettle with the flocks of migrating Turkey Vultures constantly passing overhead. The possibility of finding a gator of a size that could due any human beyond a toddler any harm is slim in a place like this. No nerves around humans for this guy.

Some remained stored for decades before a researcher would pick them up and inquired about these poorly documented specimens. After all, what was thought as its habitat was heavily deteriorated and converted to agriculture as the human population grew. A large and striking bird like this would be hard to neglect in a museum collection.
