From the American Bird Conservancy : The mayor of Albuquerque and the director of the city’s animal welfare department have been named in a lawsuit alleging that the officials have committed animal cruelty by allowing certain illegal and improper animal management practices to occur related to abandonment of stray cats.

In other words, I don't immerse myself in animal cruelty. I rescue, I adopt, I do TNR, and I connect others to resources to do the same. I spend plenty of time doing nonprofit work that is unrelated to animals and also doing for-profit work that is unrelated to animals. Because I would have a breakdown. So I take care of myself.
