of Largo, Florida, is charged with animal cruelty. Jere Martin Patterson Jr. Patterson shot the bird multiple times with a BB gun, police said. Then he captured the injured bird, according to police, and killed it. The egret suffered “multiple fractures to the wing and neck area,” the report said.

New England Reptile Distributers just released a video explaining a terrible incident involving the FWC (Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission). In 2021, Florida banned reticulated pythons, forcing Coffee to find homes for the pythons outside of Florida. He had a total of 120 pythons he needed to rehome.

I read an article last week about a series of cat killings and mutilations (20 total) in south Florida. He's charged with 19 counts of animal cruelty, 19 counts of improperly disposing of an animal body and four counts of burglary. Tags: animal cruelty. Just awful.

There isn’t too much I could write on the subject that isn’t dealt with much better by David Shiffman, a shark conservationist from Florida. Just a few weeks ago I saw an image of animal cruelty in my Twitter feed that still causes my chest to tighten when I think about it. Go read his take. I’ll wait. .

Here 's a factsheet about petting zoos, which at least in Florida have been a public health threat , to say nothing of the exploitation and suffering of the animals.) I'm fairly confident that I don't know anyone who won't say that they don't approve of animal cruelty. Many will say they "love" animals.

People in South Florida are still in an uproar over the mutilation and slaughter of 19 house cats (allegedly) by 18-year old Tyler Weinman, who was declared mentally competent and not a danger to himself or others (!). The four counts of burglary he is being charged with carry a heftier sentence than the animal killing.

Of course, I contacted Carlos Sanchez , alleged south Florida birder extraordinaire, to maximize the returns on what time I could spend. From the bulbuls we went in search of another introduced species that has taken to south Florida like home. Let me get out of the car before making me look at birds! What is it with this guy?
