Uganda may offer a chance at x% of the world’s bird species—birds we fully intended on tracking down—but the Shoebill surpasses them all in importance.

Heading south on a good surfaced road, we made slow progress through the herds of cattle, donkeys and goats that thronged the highway, until we finally reached the land of the Konso.

Of course, Tiaozini also has Cattle Egret … … and the usually somewhat depressed looking Black-crowned Night Heron.
