Birders in the northeastern United States and eastern Canada (and perhaps further afield?) should keep an eye out for Herring Gulls with pink alpha-numeric bands and wing tags and Great Black-backed Gulls with green alpha-numeric bands. The birds were all banded on Sable Island, Nova Scotia and more information on reporting them (and about the research project) can be found here.
