The Storks of Africa

It is quite a sight to experience hundreds of Abdim’s Stork dropping out of the skies from seemingly thin air, to gorge on burnt or fleeing insects and rodents. The Shoebill’s center of distribution are the Sudd Swamps along the Nile in South Sudan, with smaller numbers occurring into southwestern Ethiopia, Uganda, western Tanzania, Rwanda, Burundi, Congo (DRC) with an isolated southern population in the Bengwuelu Swamps of north-eastern Zambia.
