In Costa Rica, it’s also happening, not as in full force mode as the temperate north but that will change in a month when we see thousands of Eastern Wood-pewees , flocks of Eastern Kingbirds , and other species hurrying their way to South America. Where will those birds go when they come back looking for food and shelter?

To the Editor: Re “ Bearing Up ” (Op-Ed, Jan. Sarah Palin of Alaska, the scientific literature is very clear that polar bear survival is highly threatened in the wild. Because polar bears are at the top of the marine food chain, their bodies accumulate persistent organic pollutants that disrupt their reproductive systems.

You have used up all your New York blogging material. My attention was drawn upward by the elegant flying-knife form of an Osprey bearing a large fish. Harassed by the Ravens, it landed on a snag halfway up the cliff and hunched over its prize protectively. This is something to bear in mind when reading fables.

The field site I am assigned to is located in one of the most diverse ecosystems in the world and home to a particularly rich avifauna that numbers well over 500 species. Hundreds of riotously colored birds representing 14 species of macaws and parrots flock and frolic together in less than fifty meters of forest canopy.

Might I assume that women typically bear fewer children, or fewer survive? Davies et al. Ecological causes and reproductive conflicts. You disgust me.

Informed literature bears out my experience that most birds are seen singly or in pairs. Very interesting species. Cats Are Still Public Enemy Number One, For Birds The New York Times and Tweety have it absolutely correct. The former British colony’s Z.c. Married to a Canon? That I understand! Wicked, right?
