On my 21-day Kenyan safaris we reckoned to find around 600 species of birds and around 60 mammals, both impressive totals. Incidentally, encounters with both aardvarks and zorillas are rare – it’s much easier to see lions and leopards. My first sightings were on a rubbish tip not far from the town of Brasov in Transylvania.

Assuming you have a passing interest in wildlife, or at the least you know someone that does, and chances are in the last week or so you’ve become aware that some lady from America shot a lion. I’m glad she shot that lion, and I think you should shoot a lion too (Only where valid, terms and conditions apply.

This may seem like government agency hair-splitting, but the calls needed to be made not to the wildlife division of the wildlife agency, but to the exotic species division of the wildlife agency. The bird is a captive-bred Peregrine/Gyrfalcon hybrid owned by people with an Exotic Species Permit.

I new him because we enlisted his Dryfus Lion and one of his tigers to carry out experiments with bones (this is something archaeologists do). Unless we put them there.
