The Blue Whistling Thrush is presumably named for its loud human-like whistling, and possibly for being blue. The Latin name “ chinensis ” is somewhat misleading as is much more common in Southeast Asia than in China – apparently, it was chosen in the mistaken belief that the type specimen had come from China.

Oh, and maybe humans need to be a bit less destructive to your habitat, too. It seems that at Nanhui, somebody is trying to kill even more than 2 bird(s) (species) with one stone (to be more accurate, not a single stone but a massive amount of concrete). No wonder that Oriental Pratincoles generally encourage humans to eat more beef.

It breeds in a broad and not quite coherent band from Iceland in the west through central Europe and southern Scandinavia all the way to eastern Russia, wintering in Africa, parts of India, and Southeast Asia to Australia. Aspect one is feeding when humans are not around.

Like the Adjutants in Asia and Jabiru of the Americas, the Marabou is our bare-headed scavenging stork. Marabous have also learnt another trick, and that is to follow vultures and scavenge off the remains of Lion and other large predator kills. It is also related to Wood Stork of the Americas and Milky Stork of Asia.

That was a wild cat, a wild Wildcat, the cat that lives in the wild because that is where it is from and where it belongs, at the southern end of its pan-African range that extended at one time well into Europe and Asia. This is approximated by the size of the animal, but really, this has to be adjusted for depending on modality of killing.
