Here's the full article from the Los Angeles Times. An animal rights group has called for a federal investigation into the death of an elephant at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park. The Northern California-based In Defense of Animals called for the Department of Agriculture, which does inspections of zoos, to investigate Umoya's death.

The zoo also allows patrons to pay to interact with certain animals, allowing kids to flop around with them in enclosures. I am attaching a news article below, but SeaQuest has locations across the country and documented issues at all of them. They were cowering together under a bright light for all the passersby to balk at.
