If I pay my taxes during the Vietnam war, does this mean I am tacitly supporting the war? It would be a way of protesting present practice, a way of saying, “I disagree strongly with the treatment of animals used for food.” But so could lots of other things: wearing an animal rights button, picketing meat-packing houses, and so on.
