The call was issued after the animal rights group discovered that the fur were sourced from the raccoon dog in China, ABC Radio Australia reports. About 10 million dogs in China are killed for their fur, prompting an animal rights group to seek a ban on fur trade to Australia. However, the fur is passed off as sheep skin.

In responding to Suzie’s post defending wildlife rehabilitation I began to think again about the areas in which animal rights and animal welfare overlap with the field of conservation, and the ways in which they don’t. And people that work in either conservation or animal welfare tend to like animals.

The Islamic practice of slaughtering animals by means of a sharp cut to the front of the neck has frequently come under attack by some animal rights activists as being a form of animal cruelty, the claim being that it is a painful inhumane method of killing animals. What an utterly grotesque project.

Someone entered the premises of the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum , cut the lock on the bighorn sheep exhibit, and shot the male bighorn to death. Then—and here's the grisly part—the assailant cut the sheep's head off. Needless to say, animal-rights and other groups are up in arms. There was a senseless killing last night.

KBJ: Nobody in the animal-rights or animal-liberation movement views intelligence as a morally significant property, at least intrinsically. Clearly, cows, pigs, sheep, chickens, and fish do not consent to being eaten. What should our moral attitude be toward eating members of these species?
