Each one of these animals suffered extreme cruel and inhumane conditions in the transportation and slaughter process. Surely a nation and a national press that can expend so much attention on the life and death of one racehorse should be able to muster the compassion to pass legislation that would end this cruelty. 30, 2007

The transport and subsequent slaughter of these animals is brutal. Last September, the House voted 263 to 146 to pass this legislation. The facts are these: ¶Most horses that end up slaughtered are bought by buyers acting on behalf of slaughterhouses. Congress ran out of time before the Senate could act.

Global warming is an animal ethics issue. As the planet warms, fragile habitats that countless animal species depend on for survival will be destroyed. Take public transportation when possible. We have already witnessed radical changes in the polar icecap, changes that threaten numerous arctic species.
