Reptiles that are not treated ethically simply do not make good pets. And their behavior is completely consistent with what we would understand as "animal sentience. You can dislike something and still recognize the ethical significance of that animal. Their behavior is very, very dependent upon how they are treated.

I find animals to be valuable for a number of reasons, one of which is for their aesthetic value. So, I took the plunge.
