German Artist Wants to Kill Puppies to Protest Dog Killings

An unidentified German actor has been stopped by Berlin’s administrative court, following his announcement that he planned to strangle two puppies with cable wires on stage to protest against the slaughter of sled dogs in Alaska and hunting dogs in Spain, with their death being accompanied by a funeral march music and loud gong.

DDT, oil spills, and a wall.

My first ‘protest’ memory involved putting pencil to notebook paper and writing the President about the harmful effects of DDT. Eleven million gallons of oil suffocated 1,300 miles of shoreline in my beloved Alaska. 360 miles of National Park land at the border! Fast forward to the next decade and humans were at it again.

There was a bounty on them in Alaska from 1917 until 1952—up to $2 a head! People who protest our proposed hunt are trying to strip rights from the hunting public. Bald Eagles were nearly exterminated from the Lower 48 by the mid 1970’s. There was a lot of hunting for Bald Eagles—it is traditionally a game species.

In Alaska, they were found to mimic 30 different species ( source ). Maybe they have decided to boycott species with Russian-sounding names as a way to protest against Putin’s policies. Anyway, the male is quite stunning with its black head, while it is often said of the female that it has a beautiful soul.
