I don't agree that the game is "no different than a lobster tank" (at least conceptually--I haven't seen it), but "animal rights activists" should be campaigning for the cessation of the slaughter and consumption of lobsters, shouldn't they? What do you think of this campaign?

The Longest Struggle concludes with an overview of current campaigns and tactics, and an assessment of the state of the movement as we enter a new century, including the threat represented by an overzealous "war on terror". Worth a look.

The advocacy component of old speciesism isn't the campaign to end that exploitation, however. Instead, it is the campaign to modify it. In contrast to old-speciesist and new-speciesist advocacy, nonspeciesist advocacy advances the goal of emancipating all sentient beings from human abuse.

The most telling part of Krupp's post, which addresses and questions the way women are used in PeTA campaigns has nothing to do with that controversial concept at all. With more than 2 million members across the globe, PETA is the largest animal advocacy group and comparable in size to the human rights organization, Amnesty International.

When I first saw PCRM's " Kickstart Your Health With a Vegan Diet " campaign, I let out a bit of a sigh. Though the health argument isn't ironclad and I wouldn't want to make it the center of my advocacy, I have to remember who the messenger is here and what the context is. At least they didn't say "vegan cleanse."
