From the American Bird Conservancy : The mayor of Albuquerque and the director of the city’s animal welfare department have been named in a lawsuit alleging that the officials have committed animal cruelty by allowing certain illegal and improper animal management practices to occur related to abandonment of stray cats.

Animal welfare groups led by the Humane Society of the United States have agreed to abandon a fall ballot issue against animal cruelty as part of a deal with state farm groups brokered by Gov. I know many will disagree with me and say it's a cop-out, but I'll take what I can get. From the Associated Press.

Shoppers discovered the abandoned animal, wrapped in a white plastic bag at Morrisons Supermarket located on Pilton Drive. The authorities believed that its likely that the owner simply wanted to abandon the pet because he could no longer care for it. Before abandoning a pet, try to find another home for it.
