I remember leaping off the couch escaping whatever mundane conversation to run outside, eyes peering as far as possible into the night sky in an attempt to locate the Barn Owl whose shriek I had just heard. Not my usual aesthetic but I’m thankful that you can still realize that it is indeed a Mottled Owl.

Finally. Jasmine the Greyhound

Animal Person

It had been locked in the shed and abandoned. In an act of kindness, the police took the dog, which was a Greyhound female, to the nearby Nuneaton Warwickshire Wildlife Sanctuary, run by a man named Geoff Grewcock and known as a willing haven for Animals abandoned, orphaned or otherwise in need. And one roe deer fawn. Link: [link].

Little Big Year – Week 35: Route 66, Tucumcari and The Albuquerque area

The birds were right next to an old abandoned farm house, and seemed quite happy to have their photo taken, up to a point, but then like the wind, they were gone, out thru the flat desert areas of New Mexico! I spooked three Barn Owls out of a dense scrub row, just as the sun was setting. This one flew right over my head.
