Then there were a few Hawfinches and two young Black Storks , Little Bittern , Great White Egret , Glossy Ibis , Common Kingfisher , Syrian Woodpecker , Peregrine Falcon , Red-backed Shrike , Lesser Grey Shrike , Collared Flycatcher and a family of Western Yellow Wagtails.

The Juniper Titmouse ( Baeolophus ridgwayi ) is a passerine bird in the tit family Paridae. But a Bewick’s Wren did build a nest, which it promptly abandoned before laying any eggs. It’s a family vacation, sure, but there’s always time for birding and in Florida, the birding often finds you. You can tell which abandoned lots host owls by a small roped off area with the tell-tale t-bars that the owls perch upon. I’ve spent the last week in southwest Florida.

I strongly suspect that the rate of attrition on this Loon family is inversely proportionate to the abundance of ducklings in the bay. The adults move to flocks, there may be two or three of them, that hang out mostly far off shore in the larger part of the lake, abandoning their embayments or otherwise protected areas.

Mango is now nearly 3 and the whole family likes him. I don’t want her to pass away thinking that my neighbours are the ones that loved her the most and that I abandoned her. I eventually got Mango neutered, thinking that it would decrease his interest in her. But it changed nothing in his behaviour towards her.

But as point and shoots have changed and don’t quite work as well with scopes, some people abandoned the idea or others (like myself) embraced it and paid for more expensive single lens reflex cameras for better photos. As much as I enjoy the better photos I got with my scope by using an SLR, I missed having a compact multi-use camera.
