El Paso VMA presents awards

The El Paso VMA (EPVMA) held its 38th annual community awards banquet on May 20 in El Paso. This year’s honorees were Law N Paws, Rescue Runners, and Dr. (Major) Shannon McLean of El Paso.

Law N Paws, a unit of the El Paso Police Department, was honored with the Community Service Award. The unit investigates cases of animal cruelty, files charges, enforces owner accountability, and rehomes pets.

A Special Recognition Award was given to Rescue Runners, a program in El Paso that recruits volunteers to help walk and run shelter dogs, providing them exercise. The program also raises funds to provide food and bedding.

Dr. (Major) Shannon McLean, immediate past president of the association, was honored for her past service as president.
