August’s arrival signals a subtle shift from a somewhat static state of bird movement to a more fluid one. We’re not quite on the cusp of full-blown migration yet, but this weekend might offer better birding than you’d expect.

I’ve been striking out on the more interesting shorebirds along the lake, but that won’t stop me from making another run. Corey is living it up soaking up West Coast birdlife in southern California. How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.

Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
