Founded in 1963, the municipal population of mostly indigenous people has reached 31,000 by 2018, of which about 11,000 in the town itself. Part 1 of the tour, or a forest so young that birds still have no names Part 2 of the tour, or river dolphins and hoatzins. Don’t we all need a lot of laughs after two years of pandemic?

Sixth Annual Queens County Bird Club Big Sit An Amazing Success!

This has much less to do with the attraction of spending a day with me and much more to do with the 91 species we spotted in 2018 , including some pretty impressive birds for New York in October. We also saw lots of dolphins in the ocean and Humpback Whale blow. The Big Sit has become popular!

They came up to the platform a couple at a time to check out the view and we shared our optics and showed them dolphins offshore, an Osprey eating a fish, and variety of other cool sights. Who’s coming out to Fort Tilden in October of 2018?

So, we start with Dolphin Gull and end with Red-Legged Kittiwake, a totally different sequence from the 2017 eBird listings. Princeton University Press, 2018. However, I think some background on the Common Gull and Herring Gull complexes would be helpful to gull beginners and give the a little structure for field observation.
