I’m not saying this is good or bad, I do appreciate the careful documentation of the taxonomic notes and other materials. Fantasy is the key word here.

The Warbler, the Birder, and the Bivalve

But, it is a documented bird threat! I haven’t found any articles on Atlantic Coast birds being injured by these dangerous mussels (which are also not very tasty to humans), so I’m thinking that our birds somehow know better. It is a filter feeder, not a bird eater.
