When I was asked if I wanted to read Jeff Corwin's 100 HEARTBEATS (Rodale 2009) I was ambivalent. It has entertaining stories, includes animals people care about because they like them (and also addresses that concept), and it describes how the numbers of various species decreased to the point of being classified as "endangered" or worse.

Each bird, regardless of species, seems perfectly content to wait for the other to make the first move toward the colpa.

Informed literature bears out my experience that most birds are seen singly or in pairs. Redgannet (the blog) fledged in February 2009 and the 100th post was published as he was invited to become a beat writer for 10,000 Birds. Very interesting species. The former British colony’s Z.c. Married to a Canon?
