Keep your eyes to the skies for exotics like this Red-masked Parakeet!

Here in the United States, we’ve just observed (not celebrated, mind you) Tax Day, the annual IRS tax filing deadline. I point this out not to engage in a debate about the merits or flaws of taxation in America, but simply to point out that a heavy burden has been lifted off of our collective shoulders. Therefore, if you live in the United States, celebrate the fact that your taxes are filed by birding this weekend. If you live outside the United States, celebrate that!

I’ll spend this weekend trying to track down the gnatcatcher I thought I heard in my yard this week. Corey will be welcoming spring migrants as they cross the NYC finish line with towels and cold water. How about you? Where will you be this weekend and will you be birding? Share your plans in the comments below.

Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
