Humane Society Calls for Refuge for 9 Chimps
Videos showed mistreatment of the lab animals. Jeff Rowell, NIRC director, in an e-mail Wednesday} "said the nine remaining animals are being housed as a family group at the center with access to indoor-outdoor caging. These chimps are currently at the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s New Iberia Research Center. Accessed?"

On Why You Should Post Videos Beyond YouTube
I received this from Chris in China, and it underscores the importance of posting videos beyond YouTube. Which means, none of MFA's videos are available. US groups need to make sure they post their videos on multiple sharing sites (at least on Vimeo.com). Dear MFA, Youtube.com is blocked in China. in the worst way.

USHS Alleges Animal Abuse at the University of Louisiana New Iberia Research Laboratory
They have video. The video footage shows monkeys biting themselves and slamming against the bars of small cages. couldn't get the video to work for some reason Actually, it's more then allegations. It is the nation’s largest primate research lab that studies chimpanzees. Here is a link to the Humane Society.

Appeal Denied for Six Activists Convicted Under AEPA
The group was formed to protest the activities of Huntingdon Life Sciences in Franklin Township, N.J. The company had been a target of animal activists since video footage surfaced on television in the 1990s depicting animal abuse at its laboratory in the United Kingdom. It was a 2-1 decision by the US Court of Appeals.

Center for Tobacco, Alcohol and Restaurant Industries Resends Press Release About PETA
It seems like every 6 months or so, the Center for Consumer Freedom, a front group for the tobacco, alcohol and restaurant industries sends out a press release about how many animals PETA allegedly kills. Phil Defranco did the same thing on his youtube video. You can read about these people here. I'm glad he did that.

Rescue Spotlight: Second Acts
Second Acts is a non-profit fund raising organization that distributes 100% of all donations received to small, volunteer-run animal rescue groups nationwide that adopt a no-kill policy. To date, they have sent $250 each to groups in all 50 states and are providing financial assistance to new groups around the country.

Australia Starts to Crack Down on Sea Shepherd Leader
Earlier this year they seized records and videos from the Steve Irwin, and are now holding up Paul Watson's visa requests. The Federal Immigration Department has cracked down on Sea Shepherd's Paul Watson, demanding to know the anti-whaling group leader's police and court records as it reviews his visa.
