Another Super Bowl, another title won by a team named for something other than a bird. Birding is better when you keep sports out of it anyway!

Birding has been terribly slow here in the Rochester area. I visited a place that has historically been auspicious for Cackling Goose but couldn’t even find a Canada there. If a pair of Mallards didn’t turn up, I would have gone completely birdless. Corey, on the other hand, enjoyed a great outing to Breezy Point on Sunday morning with his pals, Seth and Mary, and they enjoyed a whole pile of coastal birds. But the stars of the show were the Razorbills zipping to-and-fro, and they are Corey’s Best Bird of the Weekend.

How about you? What was your best bird of the weekend? Tell us in the comments section about the rarest, loveliest, or most fascinating bird you observed. If you’ve blogged about your weekend experience, you should include a link in your comment.
