On Cannibalism
When we left off , the New York Times' Roger Cohen had eaten dog while in China, and wasn't thrilled about it emotionally. Logically, he admits it does make perfect sense to eat dogs if you eat pigs and cows. However I cannot see a rational argument for saying eating dogs or cats is barbaric while eating pork or beef is fine.

Roger Cohen Realizes Dogs=Pigs, Sort Of
" Dog Days in China " is a small piece with no gruesome slideshow. But it's also remarkable in that Roger Cohen, a 50-something man who writes for the New York Times, wonders: But do pigs have any more or less of a soul than dogs? His "anguish" leads him to a dog restaurant where he dines on dog. think not.

Dog Death Squads in China
can’t even imagine being in a position where my government was telling me to kill my dog, or have it beaten to death. Dog owners in Qinhuangdao, Hebei Province, are even being told to kill their own dogs, or else their dogs will be beaten to death by the police and the owners will be charged a fine. Thank you, Fred.

On the Banning of Eating Cats and Dogs in China
Sometimes an article has a couple of the above, as in the case of " Chinese Legal Experts Call for a Ban on Eating Cats and Dogs." Let's deconstruct: Legal experts in China are proposing a ban on the eating of dogs and cats. And I'm sure it will be claimed that what is done to the dogs and cats is necessary and isn't brutal.

Are You Wearing Man's Best Friend? That Trim on the Hood of Your Jacket Might Be Dog Fur!
According to this Associated Press story, if you are wearing a Sean John jacket with fur trim purchased from Macy's, that trim might have come from a dog indigenous to Asia known as a "raccoon dog." But when HSUS purchased several of these jackets, the jackets arrived bearing the labels "Made in China" and "genuine raccoon fur."
