On Honoring Living "Things"
William Horden's, " The Sacred Space of the Shared Heart " is exactly the type of piece I am talking about when I express frustration over "spiritual" people who kill nonhuman animals or who have them killed for a meal. Now, in 2010 in the developed world, therein lies the rub: killing someone to eat them is a trivial pursuit for you.

To the Editor: Soon after I read Gary Steiner’s article, my wife asked me to kill a spider, which I did. We kill so many living creatures when we build a house, construct a road, drive down that road or just walk on a path. But even then if we were to survive we would have to kill some animals in self-defense. 22): Mr.

Are Farm Animals Usually Killed in a Humane Manner?
He asked whether cows, chickens, sheep and some of the other animals that we eat are usually treated and killed in a humane manner. The meat industry will say yes, of course, all animals are treated and killed humanely. The eventual kill is quick, clean, and painless. Here is my opinion. AND 2. big corporate agribusiness.)

Getting Emotional
Chickens, turkeys, pigs and other farmed animals get nothing of the sort. Then today I read a story about a man who broke into his ex-girlfriend’s house and put her 5 month old puppy in the oven and killed him , and I got EVEN SADDER. Sometimes being an animal rights advocate is emotionally exhausting. And then I cried.

Yet not mentioned is a simple step that will go a long way toward ensuring compliance with our already lax slaughterhouse requirements: Place video cameras throughout the kill process. To the Editor: Your Feb. 21 editorial “ The Biggest Beef Recall Ever ” made some excellent points. Even “factory” agriculture has its limits. Gary L. Perhaps.
