Australian Youth Least Passionate About Ending Whaling

This finding was one of the survey results announced by the World Society for the Protection of Animals.

That sucks. Young people are the future of conservation. And they are going to be stuck with a lot of shit that we're leaving for them.

Ana,

That's a pity, but it doesn't surprise me.

I would say this is more a result of indifference than anything else. Many Australians in that age group do not see broader social or political issues as causes for immediate concern.

Commercial whaling is shocking and I am against it completely. But I don't hold out much hope for my country doing much about it. Japan is Australia’s second largest export destination, and I think it highly unlikely that the Australian government will slap the hand that feeds us.

I agree. Unfortunately, I don't have high expectations for Australia either.
