This time of year may deliver different temperatures and conditions across the world, but we birders all observe mid-December the same way: Christmas Bird Counts. Wherever you engage in this time-honored celebration of citizen science and avian diversity, dress for the weather and have a blast!

My daughter has signed up for her first Young Birders CBC, so we’ll be scouring a potentially mundane corner of Rochester for our contribution to the count. Corey has a lot to take care of to ensure a successful Queens CBC, so expect him to be rather busy this weekend.

Whatever your plans this weekend, make time to enjoy SkyWatch Friday. Also be sure to come back Monday to share your best bird of the weekend!
